Asteroids

“This is my reimagining of the classic arcade game, Asteroids. I tried to stay true to the spirit of the original as much as possible while adding a more modern “game feel” (e.g. camera shake, kickback, bigger explosions, faster movement, etc). While the original was designed to encourage you to part with your quarters, this version is designed to blow lots of stuff up. It’s a little more forgiving, too. Your ship has a little shielding that can protect you from damage for a bit and you can fire more bullets.” ~J.P. Hamilton

Player 1 Start: 1, Click
Rotate: Left/Right arrow keys, pan left/right to rotate on mobile
Thrust: Up arrow, pan up to thrust on mobile
Fire: SHIFT, Click
Hyperspace: Space bar, pinch out

Bay Point

Bay Point. Visiting family and friends. Wanted to focus on the red flowers peaking over the weathered fence. The sky changed color over the course of the drawing, which I blended into the image. Yellow and orange on the horizon. Time is interesting to describe in life drawings.

So what’s with all the frogs? I totally get it, frogs are fucking awesome. but why now? why did it take you all so long to realize that frogs are awesome? the frog market is totally overwhelmed. Remember in 2008 when beverly hills chihuahua came out and every child got a shitty chihuahua for their birthday? Remember how that movie was super racist? Have you called your mom recently? How are you really doing?

Save the Children

I pray that you never have to make such a sacrifice, but I also pray that you love the Lord enough to choose Him over your children. This is where we find ourselves. This is our life.

We in the village did not want to give our children to the devil, but when it came to the choice between our tithes to the Lord and supporting our kin, we chose the Lord.

These choices are never easy, especially knowing how our own flesh and blood will be raised as the next generation of the minions of the Beast. We’ve seen these children living in the streets, drug-addicted, turning tricks, content in their squalor. We have since ceased looking and tell ourselves that we did the right thing in the service of the Lord.

Saw this on my social media feed and enjoyed it. I feel bad for my students. Giving information and instructing in Zoom world is easier than receiving it and learning I think. The signal you send always gets corrupted somehow, with broken words and garbled sentences and dead air, but if you’re instructing, do you know every communication error that occurs during a class? For every individual student? Each of which has varying hardware, software, service providers, and wireless strength? You don’t know. You just keep talking.

What can I say? Your death changed the course of my life. Or rather, confirmed it. Fuck a world of violent misogyny, of rape and murder, where anyone could be taken in the way that you were taken from this Earth. I’ll never be the same. More grit, for sure. Love and rage at the forefront, side by side. I think about these fires, about the heartbreak, and I think of you. Somehow they’re burning alongside. Thanks for having my back, in ways I never could’ve imagined when you were alive. Thanks for expanding my heart, for opening my eyes. Twelve years feels like too long to go without your smiling eyes, your lust for life, your beautiful flair for being the dirtiest kid I’ve ever met. I miss you in the flesh, you know. Thanks for the (almost) 21 years you spent living your life to the fullest! You deserved so many more.
